Lincoln University of Missouri stands as the first Historically Black College or University (HBCU) founded by formerly enslaved individuals—a legacy of resilience, community, and academic excellence. Today, the University continues to empower students and their families with a welcoming environment and the tools they need to succeed.
However, Lincoln’s previous website no longer reflected that powerful story. It lacked the accessibility, functionality, and visual impact needed to showcase the University’s mission, rich history, and vibrant campus life.
Beacon partnered with Lincoln to change that. Through a complete website redesign and content strategy, our team brought the University’s culture to life online—creating a modern, engaging digital experience that resonates with students, parents, alumni, and donors alike.

Lincoln's beautiful campus and students stand out through full-length impact image areas in the redesigned website and prospective students are captivated by bold imagery and original content detailing the benefits of attending the university.

Interested students are guided through the site and recruiting process more effectively through strategically placed calls-to-action (CTAs) that promote student engagement.
Created an updated, modern website design that meets WCAG 2.1 accessibility requirements.
Developed a new, user-focused information architecture while also addressing current navigational issues and implemented a new content strategy.
Drafted and presented new content delivering key messaging about the university. Updated content now meets accessibility standards and is optimized for SEO best practices. Content owner guidelines were also provided, which included recommendations for effective higher education web writing.
